Our lunch visit started well, would have been 3 or 4-stars. Seated right away, nice menu, etc. But the longer we were there the worse it got. Our meals were almost what we ordered....the owner (one assumes) came by to say hello and told us about the special German menu they had because of a trained German cook...THAT would have been good to know before we ordered other things! We asked our server for 2 to-go orders of the handmade German pretzels... a l-o-n-g time late he returned with one order and was completely confused that we wanted two. "never mind - just bring us the check, we need to run" -- 10 min later, no checks..and our guy is bartending and chatting at the bar. We ask another very nice server to go get our guy... she tried but he was still at the bar. Finally brings the check, and then disappears with change/credit card again. The female server tried to salvage the situation by bringing us some coupons for next time, which was very nice. But our server was completely oblivious - maybe he was being asked to do two jobs (server and bartender) and so was stressed and less than effective, but it made our visit less than enjoyable.

Good beer selection, not so good food. Beer battered shrimp decent (not worth the $10). Deep Dish pizza - round crust (not square, just FYI). The pizza itself was not very hot at the time it was served, so we asked for it to be put back in the oven. Again it was not very hot but we decided not to make a big deal about it. Continuing on to the pizza - we ordered the meatball pizza and the onions, mushrooms and green peppers added to it were raw. My preference would be for the veggies to be cooked (or mostly cooked) before adding to a pizza. The crust needs improvement - it was doughy and not fully cooked through. Overall was the 12 inch deep dish pizza worth the $25 price tag? NO. However, that's my opinion. Let the future diners decide on this pizza joint. I would go back for a beer; nothing else would draw me back to this place.

I was driving through Bowling Green around lunch time, and looked up restaurants in the area. Lost River was a nice local find a few miles off I-65. They had every televised NFL game playing on the large TVs around the perimeter of the restaurant and an unexpectedly long beer list, including dozens of taps. The pizza list includes a tasty sounding specialty "signature" pizzas. The prices are reasonable, the pizza was done in good time for fresh pizza and the service was great. The pizza was made with VERY fresh ingredients and really tasted great. The sauce wasn't overly thick and sugary like most chains.

Just got done having lunch at lost river with my family. We have had a good experience before but this time it was less than to be desired. The restaurant only had three parties and our waitress wasn't waiting on everyone, but it took her 20 minutes to get our order. Then we had two coupons, received by mail but they only allowed us to use one. That would've been fine, but there was no fine print on the coupon saying only one could be used at a time. When we received our pizza it did not have sauce on it. We requested two cups of marinara but we were charged for the extra sauce. Our waitress did not return to give us refills until after the check was paid. We will not be returning to Lost River Pizza and we will be spreading the word about our unfortunate experience. As a family of three with a new baby, we rarely get to enjoy dinner out. Today we were looking forward to a nice lunch but we left disappointed and dissatisfied.

Awesome wings and pizza! I went with a couple of work colleagues as we were traveling. We shared the Thai Chile wings and the Whole Hog pizza. Both were incredibly fresh, cooked perfectly and wonderfully flavored. The evening was great. A word of caution, however, be sure to check the beer prices before you order. My friend got one that was not on their printed sheet and ended up paying $12.75 a pint!

I really want to love this place... it is close to home and local....but I would rather go to Mellow Mushroom or Mancinos. LRP just did not live up to the hype. Pizza was not cooked well, topping were WAY too big and it just was not worth it.

I want to like this place but the food is just not good. The dough is not like anything I've ever experienced on pizza. If you order the deep dish, you will get a mouthful of bread that you can hardly chew. They have the oddest (not in a good way) flavor combinations. It always takes forever to get your food, and it's always disappointing. I don't know what they could do to improve other than learn how to actually make pizza.

Great pizza and beer menu. Probably the best beer menu in BG and adequate pizza. I only visit the city 2-3 times a year so I cannot compare to other local pizza joints, although ours was vey good and they did have a wide variety of tasty sounding options. The beer menu however is probably the best in town as it features East and West Coast drafts and bottles and everything in between.

My wife and I went out for a date night and wanted something good and memorable. She suggested Lost River for their beer selection and great pizza. I had been there before 2012 and didn't remember anything negative so I agreed. The selection of pizzas sounded good so we ordered a large pizza and two pints from the "alternating, 6 at a time" beer tv. (Retarded idea, no price) pizza came and was quite dry. I asked one of the waitresses for a glass of water and see pretty much ignored me. I heard her say to our waitress as we were getting the check say "oh, he wanted a glass of water" The beer was really good, but was not worth $8 a pint! The pizza was also way overpriced. We are originally from the west coast and have had some pizza worth what we paid at Lost River, but between all the contributing factors, the night was pretty much a failure. It was memorable alright, but not in the way we intended. To add insult to injury, we both were up at 3 a.m. sick. Never again!

Very unimpressed with this place. Service was slow AND terrible, iced tea tasted like water, pizza was barely mediocre. I ordered a hoagie with grilled shrimp and sausage, told waitress "no onion"- TWICE. After a 30 minute wait our food arrived, sandwich loaded with onion and was terrible. There are too many good places to eat in Bowling Green, will not waste my time or money here again.

Just tried this place. I had an appetizer and side salad. I wanted to try the pizza as its one of my favorite foods on Earth, but I was too late for lunch special, which is a 6" pizza and didn't have enough time for the deep dish. Menu says it takes 35-55 minutes to cook. I will say a table next to me had it and it looked awesome. I almost introduced myself and asked for a slice. Anywho... back to what I did have - a Caesar side salad and rockin Italian tots. Salad was fresh and not skimpy for a side salad. The tots had pepperoni, Italian sausage, tomatoes and cheese all over them. They were good not great. All the yummy stuff on the tots sounded good in theory, but the cheese all came off in one big glob, the pepperoni and sausage were on the bottom of the plate, so it was difficult to get a bite with all the flavors. It needed something to bind all the good stuff together. I will be back for the pizza and hope I can make my next rating a 5 star!!

These guys do a great job. The Chicago style pizza is very similar to the better pizzarias in Chicago. Reminds me of Lou Malnattis in Chicago. Very good. Be aware, your order will not take 10 minutes. It is from scratch, my chicago pizza took about 40 minutes, but worth every second. Especially when you get close to the crust where the cheese get melted into the bread and there's almost no sauce or none at all and you get this awesome cheesy pizza bread crust complimenting the lovely slice you've just forked away....... I may go get one now.

Really good pizza and friendly service here. It's also a bar, but I didn't drink anything so I can't attest to the beer on tap. They serve all kinds of specialty pizzas. The wicked garden and the wild boar pizzas were really good.

It's pizza. One pepperoni per slice on a $28 pizza is crap. Unimpressive service that could care less if you stay or go. Won't be back.

We really enjoyed our visit to Lost River Pizza. We took the whole family and they loved it and so did I, and even my mom, who is in her 70s and doesn't eat pizza, found something she could eat. I'd happily go back.

I hesitate to give a two star review because I have had good meals there. My last visit was very disappointing I got the appetizer that has several different items on it The mushrooms were excellent , and the I forget, was a little pasta thing which was very good. However the fried pickles were just lim and tasteless they seem like they might have been breaded with Cornmeal rather than batter? . The chicken fingers look like they had come out of a frozen box and were not juicy and large but rather hard and crispy. The coffee was very disappointing because of the cream. It was powdered creamer! One really great thing was the service I usually sit at the front of the restaurant and the servers do tend to congregate in the back and seem to have a good time which I don't mind but sometimes they can be forgetful. The salads are wonderful you can't get a better salad dressing than at lost River pizza! When I eat there again I will stick to my regular choices i.e. the chips with blue cheese are fabulous. Please try it for yourself a lot of people really love the pizzas. As well as many other things on the menu. The owner is very friendly and seems to try very hard. He just needs to look at some of his apps they tend to lack quality.

Service was great, the pizza not so much. I hate giving a bad review when our waitress really did her best to make things great for us, but I gotta be honest. This was pizza from the hospital cafeteria, or from school lunch. Expensive too. Apologies to our lovely server, but it just was not good. Sauce was mediocre, crust was what grossed me. Doughy and tasteless. Ugh. Call me a pizza snob if you must but I think I'll stick to Papa Johns!

Not impressed. Started off here, intending to spend a few hours catching up with a friend. Not to get all soap-box-y but FFS, a tv scrolling beer options (badly listed) is in no way, shape, or form even up to par with a damn blackboard. And an ap? Are you effing kidding me? I get that they're trying to connect with their "spirit animal" customers who will pay 25$ for (egads, really, really, not even remotely adequate fare for anyone exposed to more than Yuck! brand or Blahfoodbroughttoyoubythatguywiththecheesysportscarstory) pizzas, but...apparently Lost River Pizza's preferred customers are digital privacy-unconcerned. Good for them, nope-octopus inserted; my hopes based on the interior of this spot were misplaced. Silly me. Had a round. Pie eventually brought out. Deep dish is an offense to the term. Went elsewhere. Gimmicks that get in the way of a positive customer experience, especially given a terribly made food product seem to be more of a priority than just serving good drafts and good food. Even if a pencil is required. Meh.

Great selection of craft beer on tap. Sat at the bar. The service was absolutely fabulous. Thank you Amanda!! Had the margarita pizza on thin crust. It was awesome!!! Needing a reason to come back to Bowling Green now.

After a day at Mammoth Cave, we stopped at Lost River for a snack and some beers since the reviews on Beer Advocate were pretty solid. Upon entering, the place looked pretty cool - booths and tables with a bar towards the back and all in nice, dark wood. Since it was only 4:00 p.m. on a Monday, the place was dead, which made our service pretty good. We sat at the bar, and our very nice bartender asked what we wanted; when we asked what was on tap, she pointed to two TVs in either corner and also said we could download an app that would tell us. So, the fella still uses two cans with a string, and I didn't feel like downloading an app just to get a drink. We stared at the TVs, waiting for all the beers to scroll, and realized the breweries weren't listed along with the beer names. The bartender once again told us to download the app. Um, no. What happened to just getting a list or seeing a board? We finally decided on some beer (the list was just okay), and then we placed our order for what sounded pretty delicious - tater tots doused in mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, sausage, and marinara sauce. After eating about half, we decided it really wasn't that good, which was sad since I like all those things; they just didn't go together. We left after that one drink (which was $1 off) and one app (which was half off during the 4:00-7:00 happy hour). About 4 hours later, the fella and I were on death's door, feeling miserable. Needless to say, it was a long night, and we were cursing Lost River. As others have said, if you want good pizza, do yourself a favor and drive a couple of miles to Mellow Mushroom.

We just didn't like the food! Service was great! It's the marinara... It's terrible. So that ruins a pizza place!

When this place first opened we got in the habit of going. It was fine at first. Not great, but something new. A little over a year ago I was in there with my family during the football season. My wife, myself and our two young children. There was a large table of folks who had been over served near us. They were yelling at the TV, cussing very loudly and generally being a bunch of jerks. I didn't see any adults working at the time, just a bunch of college kids who were not inclined to do anything about it, and obviously had no problem with the situation. Folks screaming F* you and Bull Sh* at a television in a restaurant with families out for an evening. This and the fact that our waitress was not attentive at all has caused us not to return. There is a place right next door that is 100 times better anyway. Like I say, that was quite a while ago so we decided to give the place another try a couple weeks ago. As was the case before, the beer selection was great, the waitress was fine this time, but man, the pizza just isn't that good. The entire bottom of our pizza was actually burnt nearly black. Those who say this pizza is good probably really enjoy Dominos or Little Cesar's. Not really knocking those pizzas I guess but if you like them, save yourself the money you'll shell out here and go get one. For an outstanding Pizza, try Mellow Mushroom. I've never had a bad meal there, just occasionally bad service.

Food quality is really low but costs are high. Their beer selection has really suffered more recently as they continue to cater to fat Americans who crave miller light. And I hate their digital menu. It takes twice as long to decide what you want.

  • Megan T.

I ordered 2 different pizzas [both small] and spent almost $50. The beer selection looked interesting, but was afraid to ask how much after getting the food bill! I would go back, with someone else treating.

Great pizza. The spiciness of the sauce is better than any place around. This is first class pizza, and their other dishes are delicious also. Although I disagree with the high price of pizza these days, I still give lost river 5 stars because you just can't beat it.

I've eaten here multiply times because my family likes to come here for the beer selection and prices. I have honestly never really been impressed with the food but last night was absolutely terrible. We ordered two pizzas the funky chicken and the Hawaiian pizza. The funky chicken came out first and it looked kinda weird the crust was really white it wasn't golden like most pizza. Then the Hawaiian pizza came out it was soggy, the toppings were just thrown on there and the crust was so limp you couldn't even pick the pizza up. We have gotten the pizza from here before and it was not like that. We asked our server if they changed something because it wasn't good she went on to say that everything was the same, "I've worked here for 2 years and it has always been like this." We said well something is different she said, "oh well we did change the crust" well ding ding ding obviously it is not the same. Annoyed we just asked that the pizza be taken off the bill. No management came over to speak with us or anything, which is very unprofessional, a server should never handle an issue like that. This place is going down hill. If you want great pizza go to mellow mushroom, or even jets $25 for a pizza of this quality is ridiculous and we won't be back!

Well pulled up not realizing what had already been posted as reviews. So here it is. So far greeted by a friendly Waitress. Sunday afternoon not many people. I ordered a large pepperoni w/mushrooms pie. Waitress came back over and confirmed my order. After reading the reviews not sure what to expect. Pizza looks kinda doughy for a thin crust. I Sent it back! Going to get up and walk out. Do not eat here

    (1)
  • Marcie F.

The thin crust pizza is terrible. It isn't even home made. Taste like cardboard and reminds me of the pre-made crust you can buy at the grocery store. Everyone's thin crust looked exactly alike so that told me that they used a pre-made crust. It was very disappointing especially for the price you pay for it. We will not go back.

The kids and I went here after a long day of sight seeing. We had the cheese maximus and Uncle Freddy pizzas that were delicious. The selection of beer was great especially since it was pint night as well. The best part was our server Lauren. She made us feel very welcome and since my daughter told her she was an Irish dancer, Lauren even arranged it with the manager to let her demonstrate her dance. We'll definitely be back when traveling this way.

I'm not sure how this place has such a low rating on here, but after reading some of the other reviews, it looks like all their main gripes were ok when I went. Atmosphere is cool with lots of TVs. Beer selection is excellent and some of these are big beers (heavy IPAs etc) which do cost more than your bud light. Not having a printed menu seems kinda silly since you could just print out the website... Got a thin crust pizza and it was just how I like it. Crispy with lots of toppings. Also got a caesar salad to start, which was quite tasty. It was a bit pricey but I think the quality deserved it. All in all a good place.

We went in to Lost River for pizza, but at $20-$35 per pizza thought sandwiches would be a better value. The bf & I split a fried ravioli appetizer which was delicious and tasted freshly made. I ordered the Italian beef sliders with thin cut fries but received crinkle cut fries (fries tasted like typical frozen as did bf's tots, but they were both okay). My sliders were a single hoagie cut in threes but the beef was tasty and I liked the au jus. Bf's meatball sub went back due to a drenched (wet) lower bun, but they quickly & happily replaced it. Meatball sub was tasty as well. There was an employee eating at the bar on break which I find unprofessional, but otherwise waitstaff was friendly & pretty good. I'd try them again, but wish the pizza was more reasonably priced (maybe a half priced pizza special of the day?)

If you can't find a beer you like here you should stop drinking beer. PLUS the pizza was great. The staff was very attentive and we never had to wait for a refilll. Order the fried pickles. The greek pizza waa good but you should hold the chicken.

Perhaps I spoke to quickly... had a pan big.grizzly tonight. Amazing!!! Got children three large pizzas from pizza hut. The medium big grizzly out weighed all the pizza hut pizzas. And tasted amazing. Fresh ingredients. Wow cant wait to go again now. Hopefully all the kinks have been worked out.

Best pizza in town. I travel a lot, and this is pretty good stuff. Love the authentic deep dish.

Most impressive beer list in Bowling Green by a large margin that we have found. Really solid beers, some pretty rare. 30 beers on tap. The bartender was knowledgeable about the beers, but the only drawback was they don't have a printed beer list. There is this goofy thing where the beers are being displayed six at a time on TVs in the corner of the bar. Food was good. We got pizza with two different types of toppings on each half. They do not skimp on toppings. The service we got was very very good. Overall, definitely worth visiting. The only gripe I have is the goofy lack of true beer list to select from.

  • Tim K.

This is a new place in town. This is more of a high end gourmet pizza place, not some chuck e cheese or Dominos. Their pizza is delicious! I've had several different kinds, all deep dish. Definitely something you want to eat right then and there, doesn't reheat very well. They load up the toppings and their crust is the best part! You can tell everything is fresh and loaded with flavor. They also have a massive selection of awesome beers on tap. I tried several of them per recommendations from the waiters. They also have a large bourbon collection too.

    (5)
  • Jess S.

Good stuff! I split the Old Dad's favorite pizza and a salad. Tasted great and a slightly different taste to the crust. Someone else at the table had bourbon chicken tenders which were good. I'd love to go back and try some of the sandwiches. Very cool atmosphere and neat wooden menus!

  • Christopher E.

OVERPRICED!!!! 2 beers, $14. There is no excuse for this. 1) Sweet waitress, but knows NOTHING about beer. Neither did the other waitress sitting on my side of the bar, off duty. 2) Beer menu was completely inaccurate. 3) If you intend to succeed in introducing fine craft beer to the folks of BG, STOP with these insane prices! I pay less for the same quality of beer in almost all of the MAJOR metropolitan areas of the USA.

  • Kelly M.

Truly horrible food and atmosphere. This restaurant is tiny and they frequently have a band crammed into the corner, playing bad music WAY too loud. You cannot even hear anything your friends are saying because it is so loud. The pizza is some of the worst I've ever had. The crust is dry and grainy. I don't know how they claim to have "award-winning" pizza. They don't even serve the best pizza in that strip mall they are in. Home cafe next door isn't even a pizza place, but their pizza is 1000 times better and more unique. I got fried mushrooms as an appetizer and they were burnt on the outside and frozen on the inside. I cannot even believe a server looked at that and thought it was ok to serve. They do have a decent beer selection, but with how awful the food is, I would much rather just go to mellow mushroom. They have great pizza and an even bigger beer selection. Never again.
